About the role: We are looking for a compassionate and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a small, supportive special school in Newham, London. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with students across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, providing tailored support for those with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Your main responsibility will be to assist both verbal and non-verbal students, helping them develop academically, socially, and emotionally. Working collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCO, you will implement specific learning plans, offer one-to-one guidance, and adapt your approach to meet each child’s unique needs. This role is ideal for someone patient, understanding, and passionate about helping SEN students succeed.

Application Requirements:
• Experience working with SEN students, especially those with ASD.
• Qualifications in SEN or Special Education (preferred but not essential).
• A proactive and empathetic approach to support each child’s individual development.
• Ability to adapt and communicate effectively with both verbal and non-verbal students.
• Commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide targeted support to SEN students in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
• Assist the teacher with lesson planning and preparation tailored to SEN requirements.
• Encourage student engagement through positive reinforcement and patience.
• Collaborate with SENCO and staff to ensure the best support strategies are in place.
• Help maintain a safe and organised learning environment.
