An outstanding Special Needs School in Reading is seeking a compassionate SEN/Mental Health Teaching Assistant for a long-term role starting ASAP. This school offers education and therapeutic support for children aged 5 to 18 with diverse educational needs, communication challenges, and behavioral difficulties, with a strong focus on wellbeing.
As an SEN/Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you’ll provide one-on-one and small group support, assisting students in both their academic achievements and emotional growth. You’ll play a key role in helping students build social and interpersonal skills, empowering them to make positive decisions and overcome daily challenges.
This position also offers valuable experience working alongside a multidisciplinary team that includes educational and occupational psychologists, counselors, and speech therapists. You’ll have the opportunity to observe and learn from these professionals, making it an ideal role for anyone aspiring to a career in therapy, psychology, or mental health support. This role will deepen your understanding of neurodiversity, mental health, and the unique challenges young people face.
