Description
This job would see you assisting in day to day tasks for the Shipping Team for a busy engineering company – starting on lighter, general admin duties, you will be trained up until eventually you become a competent Shipping Administrator.
By the time you are a fully-fledged part of the team, you will be able to do the following:
· Check invoicing accuracy and rectify any errors.
· Ensure manifest is correct for daily shipments and paperwork fully prepared to support on time courier collections.
· Create documentation for customs for all export shipments from the plant using ERP system and Excel.
· Book collections using different costumers’ web portals and provided ASNs for the shipments.
· Tracking proof of deliveries when requested.
· Investigating and correcting shipping errors.
· Check and approve Import and Export freight invoices using internal tools.
· Ensure correct processes are followed with Customs Auditors and VAT Inspectors.
· Liaise with import authority for clearance of incoming shipments.
· Process and monitor Cargo Insurance Claims.
· Be involved in regular carrier reviews looking at ways to optimise transit times and costs.
· Compliance with and in-depth knowledge of internal freight policies.
· Have in depth knowledge of HM Customs legal requirements.
· Be able to engage and operate in Customer and Freight agent web portals.
This role is working on the dayshift in Havant (0800 to 1600) and is on a long term, on-going contract with scope for perm. Although experience in admin and compliance is required, and knowledge of shipping processes very desirable, no formal qualifications are needed. Starting on £14 per hour.
