Our independence enables us to act as an impartial observer, advocate, intermediary and evaluator for this complex, diverse group of organisations and services.What this job is aboutSight Loss Council members use their lived experience to tackle local and national issues and work with businesses and service providers to improve the accessibility of their services.Sight Loss Councils (SLCs) are led by blind and partially sighted volunteers. There are a number already in existence in England and Scotland, but now it’s time to establish a further SLC in Wales. Thomas Pocklington Trust (TPT) funds and oversees the Sight Loss Councils.For this role we are seeking someone who is blind or partially sighted, with the ability to use their experience to be an effective voice to improve the lives of people with sight loss and create an effective change in Wales.Job overviewTo deliver a national Sight Loss Council in Wales under the auspices of Wales Council of the Blind (WCB).To engage with blind and partially sighted people throughout Wales making sure that their voices are represented through the SLC and to respond to key issues and themes as they arise.To develop and implement Local Action Groups across the region. Initially these will be 3 groups coterminous with Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB; Betsi Cadwaladr UHB; Hywel Dda UHB.To lead on the engagement with other sector partners and stakeholders to ensure a robust national network to successfully deliver all engagement project work.
