Student Safety Engagement Officer
£24,484 – £25,674
Fixed term 12 month contract from September 2025
(with possibility of permanent)
Oldham College is seeking a dedicated and motivated Student Safety Engagement Officer to join our vibrant Student Services team. This role is essential in ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of our learners, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage student behaviour and de-escalate challenging situations, ensuring a safe and positive environment.
- Engage with students to identify support needs and build constructive relationships to promote well-being and full participation in college activities.
- Conduct safety and security protocols, including ID card checks, monitoring CCTV, stop and search procedures, and ensuring the safety of the college premises.
- Support safeguarding and health & safety protocols, including assisting with first aid and emergency procedures.
- Collaborate with the Student Safety Engagement team to maintain a safe and inclusive campus environment for all.
Skills and Experience:
- Proven ability to handle challenging situations and manage behaviour effectively.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a professional approach to student engagement.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and safety protocols.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- First Aid qualification (or willingness to train).
- Experience in monitoring security systems (CCTV) is a plus.
