Dorchester Young Peoples Service opened its doors in August 2017. Based inFordington, Dorchester, the service provides accommodation and tailored support to for a young person toacquireIndependent Living skills.
Werenow looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Support Worker to deliver person-centred, strengths-based support to our residents, helping them to achieve and become as independent as possible.
We can offer this role as aFull Timeposition or Part Time 2 x 20 hours per week.
You will manage a caseload of customers through their journey, enabling them to articulate their aspirations and realise their potential. You will manage referrals into the service, undertake interviews andassessmentsand notify potential customers of the outcomes of these activities. You will also induct new customers into the service and deliver quality, outcome focused support sessions in both one-to-one sessions and group sessions.
The ideal candidate will:

Hold a Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.

Have a genuine desire and passion to work with vulnerable young people with support needs.

Willingness to learn on the job is of primary importance.

Have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Be able to work under pressure, using your own initiative.

Be able to work positively and creatively.

Be IT literate, comfortable working with Microsoft Office packages.

Previousexperience would be useful but is by no means essential. Knowledge of housing and benefits advice is also desirable.
Appointment to this role will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service Check, satisfactoryreferencesand possession of a valid Right to Work document.
