Salary: £21,000–£23,000 per annum

About the Role
An exciting opportunity has become available for a dedicated and experienced Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join a specialist education team supporting children and young people with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is passionate about helping students with additional needs flourish both academically and emotionally.

Working within a small, nurturing school environment, the successful candidate will play a vital role in the day-to-day support of pupils aged 11–16. The setting is part of a growing educational provision offering an alternative, needs-led curriculum tailored to young people with complex learning profiles. The post offers scope for long-term progression and is part of a wider mission to redefine excellence in SEN education.

Key Responsibilities

Provide in-class support to students with a range of additional needs, ensuring they are engaged and progressing.

Work closely with teachers to adapt resources and learning materials to suit individual needs.

*

Deliver small group or 1:1 interventions under teacher guidance.

*

Assist in maintaining a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.

*

Help implement strategies that support social, emotional, and behavioural development.

*

Contribute to tracking student progress and reporting back to the teaching team.

*

Foster strong, trusting relationships with students to support their personal development.

Candidate Requirements

*

Relevant TA2 qualification or equivalent experience.

*

Experience working in a school setting, particularly with students who have SEN, SEMH, MLD or SLD.

*

Confident supporting young people with diverse learning profiles.

*

Understanding of trauma-informed or therapeutic approaches is advantageous.

*

Willingness to support personal care needs when required.

*

DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

*

A calm, patient, and flexible attitude with strong communication skills.
