Axcis Education is seeking a passionate and experienced Teaching Assistant to join an autism specialist school located in Wandsworth. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people with autism and other special educational needs.
About the School:
The school caters to students aged 6–19 with autism and additional needs, offering a highly supportive and structured environment tailored to their individual requirements. Pupils benefit from small class sizes and a high staff-to-student ratio, with support provided either on a 1:2 or 1:1 basis, depending on their specific needs.
About the Role:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students’ academic, social, and personal development. Your responsibilities will include:
* Working closely with students to provide personalised support that meets their individual needs.
* Implementing tailored strategies to help students engage with the curriculum and develop key skills.
* Supporting students in managing their behaviour and emotional regulation in a positive and empathetic manner.
* Collaborating with teachers and other staff to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
Essential Requirements:
* Proven experience working with children or adults with autism in a similar setting.
* A solid understanding of autism and the strategies needed to support individuals on the spectrum effectively.
* A child and adult enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service.
* Resilience, patience, and excellent communication skills.
Details:
* Immediate start.
* Working hours are 08:30–16:00, Monday to Friday.
* Term-time only, on a long-term basis.
