Job Description:
A secondary school in Central Southampton is looking for a passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team, starting ASAP. This long-term role offers the potential to become permanent for the right candidate. You will support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), playing a crucial part in creating a positive, inclusive learning environment for students.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will collaborate closely with teaching staff to plan and deliver lessons that meet the specific needs of students. You’ll provide one-on-one and small group support, assist in creating personalised learning resources, and help with behaviour management. You will also monitor student progress, supporting their academic, social, and emotional development.

Key Responsibilities:
Work closely with teachers to plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to students’ needs.
Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH and ASD.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom atmosphere.
Assist in the creation of personalised learning resources and materials.
Support behaviour management strategies to ensure a calm and productive learning environment.
Track and monitor student progress, contributing to their overall development.
Requirements:
Previous experience working with students with SEMH, ASD, or in a similar SEN role is highly desirable.
A genuine passion for supporting students’ academic, social, and emotional growth.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a dedicated team.
Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude towards challenges.
Qualifications:
Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
Relevant qualifications in Education or SEN are advantageous but not essential.
