This entry-level position is designed to provide comprehensive training and hands-on experience in all aspects of Quarry management. The Trainee Quarry Manager will work closely with experienced Quarry management staff to learn about the operational, administrative, and regulatory aspects of running the Quarry. The successful candidate will receive full training and support, gaining valuable experience and skills necessary to manage quarry operations effectively. The Trainee Quarry Manager through successful completion of all training will undertake the Quarry Manager role. Key responsibilities: Combining knowledge of extraction and processing systems with excellent interpersonal and management skills to ensure the profitability of the Quarry site; Checking production levels are maintained safely to meet requirements Liaising with sales and commercial teams to meet production requirements; Assessing equipment and production materials levels; undertaking regular site inspections and risk assessments in order to comply with all health and safety regulations; Ensuring that key government Health and Safety legislation is implemented throughout the site; Maintaining up-to-date records and dealing with all relevant Quarrys documentation (including the completion and maintenance of all relevant site paperwork, including timesheets, plant check lists, safety documentation & management reports etc.); Supporting and participating in the continuous improvement of the Quarry Health and Safety culture and housekeeping activities; Performance managing the production process and setting and monitoring targets; Liaising with staff on site and dealing with any technical or staffing challenges that arise; Completing accident/incident investigations and reports; Undertaking all other reasonable additional duties when required. Essential Criteria: Good understanding of heavy plant and machinery, including maintenance planning; Excellent communication and influencing skills; Good business and management skills; Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; Good IT skills; Knowledge of Health and Safety issues and how they relate to practical working environments; Flexible approach to work; Desirable criteria: Third level qualification in Mechanical Engineering/Civil Engineering or HND level specific to the quarrying or road construction industry; A basic level of technical understanding of quarrying environments and extraction systems; Previous experience in the quarrying or construction industry is advantageous, but not required Due to the location of the Quarry a full driving licence is essential.
