The Role
The role of the Welfare Benefits Assistant is to work with the Advice Team, to support the service and provide guidance and support to Southway Housing Trust tenants and their families to enable them to access benefits and maximise their income. To provide basic benefits advice and benefits checks. Monitor and distribute all referrals to the Advice team and provide administrative support as required. Develop, manage and maintain a caseload and keep precise case notes and documentation to enable and support outcomes.

Candidates
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Advice Team for a Welfare Benefits Assistant. For the right person we offer a 35-hour week, competitive salary, excellent contributory pension scheme, and 25 days holiday increasing to 30 days.

Our ideal candidate will have:
* Excellent communication skills, including active listening, good verbal and strong writing skills.
* Have a basic understanding of the Welfare benefits System
* Be able to take information and translate it for the purpose of completing benefit claim forms.
* Be educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
* Be focused on improving and keen to attend training to develop their knowledge
* Commit to achieving an NVQ in Advice and Customer Service Level 3.
