Youth Worker (Music) (Fixed Term)

Are you passionate about music? Do you enjoy working with young people to give them the opportunity to participate in music activities? Do you want to help manage our newly redeveloped recording and rehearsal room? Then this job is for you- The Youth Work Service in Dumfries and Galloway are offering an opportunity for adults who have experience in working within music and arts and who young people to join an innovative and award-winning youth work team to deliver a range of informal learning programmes based around music in the Nithsdale area but predominately within the Oasis Youth Centre.

The Music Youth Worker post will lead the development of our music provision within the Oasis Youth Centre including upskilling young people on running the recording studio equipment and booking the rehearsal room. The successful candidate will also support the planning and delivery of the youth events team.

You will be required to work 15 hours per week, 52.14 weeks per year.

This post is fixed term for up to 24 months.

This challenging and stimulating post is part of a wider team of workers
developing and supporting creative youth work activity and involvement
across Dumfries and Galloway.

A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.

The post will require evening and weekend work on a weekly basis, for which payment is included in the salary offered.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and
Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act
2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join
the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal
offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if
offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required
to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the
country or countries in which they were resident.
